Mosi & Daisy: kindred spirits

For weeks, there have been all kinds of reports on the terrible death of Rudolph Mooshammer, the 64 year old fashion tsar (as the Germans called him), and of course, the reports included regular news on little Daisy. Rudolph Mooshammer had a lot of passions: high-grade Rolls Royce Limousines, stylish fashion clothes, and a resplendent life in the Jet Set. But his biggest passion had for legs and was priceless for him the Yorkshire Terrier bitch Daisy. Are there differences between castrated and non-castrated dogs?

We know this from human beings - today, women live distinctively longer than men. But is that the same with our dogs? Refering to a representative survey, this question has to be answered with a clear NO on the average, the males lived 10 weeks longer than the females. There is also this assumtion that castrated dogs have a longer lifetime but is that really true? Is there a lower danger of getting cancer for the dog by castrating it?...

Eating feces is a tedious and unappetizing subject that worries a lot of Yorkie holders. There aren't any scientific investigations on that. That's the reason why vets and animal psychologists are often at a loss when a dogowner describes this very problem. There are various triggers for such a behaviour. There are statements on "x-tra small" Yorshire terriers that make experts and serious enthusiasts of that race blushing with embarrassment. How dit this variety of the race, which isn't really one, come up? And who is responsible for the breed's immense suffering?...

Not too long ago, the deadly accident of little Volkan, caused by a young dogowner who had a previous conviction for bodily harm, produced a wave of fear of dogs on people. So they close their eyes when youngsters and children are torturing animals brutally they call it "cool".
